SPANISH FORT, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Men's and Women's Cross Country competed at the annual Azalea City Classic over the weekend at Historic Blakely State Park, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
The Coyotes produced multiple personal records across both 5K races, while freshman Hannah Galloway continued her record-setting start to the season by establishing the Coastal Alabama - North women's program record for the second consecutive meet. Meanwhile, the men's program record was also smashed by freshman Remi Kepran.Â
Galloway finished the women's 5K in 19:50, lowering the program record she set at the Montevallo Falcon Classic by three seconds. The performance also marked another personal best for the freshman, who led the Coyotes with an 18th-place finish.
Coastal Alabama - North's women's team finished fourth out of six teams.
Galloway was joined by four teammates who recorded personal records in the 5K. Roxanna Mendoza finished 26th in 21:15, followed by Elizabeth Reynoso in 29th at 21:39. Kayden Bland placed 31st in 22:06, while Jade Ruiz Ochoa finished 34th in 22:59.
On the men's side, the 'Yotes placed fourth out of five teams, highlighted by freshman Remi Kepran who notched a new program-best in the men's 5K.
Kepran led the Coyotes individually, finishing 12th overall with a time of personal and program best time of 16:11. The first-year Coyote had led the team in each of the first three meets of the season.
Tyler Harris followed Kepran in 24th overall with a time of 16:55. The 'Yotes also saw four runners establish personal records. Riley Valdez finished 25th in 16:58, while Darwin Vasquez placed 36th in 17:44. Jaylen Walker finished 43rd in 19:57, followed by Bradley Campbell in 45th at 21:23.
The Azalea City Classic marked another strong showing for the Coastal Alabama - North Cross Country programs, led by head coach Misti Nims, with both teams continuing to see individual improvement throughout the 2026 campaign.
Coastal - North Cross Country will return to competition as the Coyotes continue their 2026 season at the Gulf Coast Invitational on Oct. 2 in Panama City, Fla.
