PORT HURON, Mich. - Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball concluded its longest road trip of the 2025-26 season over the weekend and wrapped up a demanding three-game slate at the annual SC4 Thumbcoast Tip-Off in Port Huron, Mich. with a 1-2 weekend, earning a statement victory over nationally ranked No. 14 Mid Michigan while falling to host St. Clair County Community College (Mich.) and Bryant & Stratton (Wis.). The 1-2 showing moves the overall record to 4-5 on the year, with the Coyotes securing the first upset win of the season after beginning the year receiving votes for entry in the NJCAA D-II Top 25.
St. Clair County CC 63, Coastal Alabama - North 57 | Thursday, Nov. 20
In Thursday's tournament opener, Coastal Alabama - North built a 10-point second-half lead before St. Clair County surged late to hand the Coyotes a narrow 63-57 loss. Coastal - North grabbed 45 rebounds and outscored SC4 32-18 in the paint, but 18 turnovers and a 2-of-17 performance from three-point range proved costly.
Justin Burns added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Eli Pippins finished with 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Al'Terrius Beasley, Bryce Wilkins, and David Culbreath-Martin all posted seven points each in the losing effort, with Wilkins pacing the Coyotes with eight rebounds. As a team, Coastal - North shot 40.3% from the field, making just five of 12 free-throw attempts. Additionally, the Coyotes won the rebound battle, 45-40.
Coastal Alabama - North 72, (14) Mid Michigan 66 | Friday, Nov. 21
The next day, the Coyotes delivered one of their strongest performances of the season, knocking off No. 14 Mid Michigan behind a dominant second half and a 39-point surge after halftime. Coastal - North finished the game shooting 42.4% from the field while winning the rebounding battle 43-33 and converting 24 points off turnovers.
Chimeziri Okeoma carried the offense with a season-high 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting, paired with four steals. Eli Pippins added 13 points, five rebounds and two steals, while Justin Burns turned in a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. From off the bench, Bryce Wilkins contributed seven points and seven boards, and Xzavier Brooks added six points.
Coastal - North's pressure defense held Mid Michigan to 30% shooting overall despite the Lakers hitting 15 threes. The Coyotes never trailed by more than six and took control down the stretch to secure the tournament's signature upset.
(22) Bryant & Stratton (Wis.) 85, Coastal Alabama - North 57 | Saturday, Nov. 22
The Yotes closed tournament play Saturday against a hot-shooting Bryant & Stratton squad that connected on 17 three-pointers and shot 53% overall in an 85-57 decision. Coastal - North fought on the boards once again, pulling down 28 rebounds with 10 on the offensive end, but the momentum from the upset win the day before was halted.
Bryce Wilkins kept Coastal - North in the game with a team-high 21 points, adding seven rebounds and two blocks, while the Coyotes' starting five combined for just 20 points as a group. Justin Burns followed Wilkins with seven points, while Al'Terrius Beasley notched six points. No other Coyote scored more than four against the Bobcats.
Weekend Summary / ACCC Action Ahead
Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball leaves Port Huron, Mich. with momentum following its upset win over nationally ranked Mid Michigan and several strong individual performances, but will look to get back into the win column in the conference opener set for Monday night, Nov. 24.
The Coyotes will face Wallace - Selma in the ACCC opener on Monday, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT in Selma, Ala. The Patriots are 5-3 overall during the 2025-26 season.
