Andrew Helton joins the Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball staff with over 30 years of collegiate coaching experience, a background rich in program building, player development, and postseason success. His career includes roles across NCAA Division I, Division II and the junior college ranks.
At Saint Francis University (Pa.), Helton helped guide the program to consistent success, including an NEC Regular Season title, four postseason appearances, and the development of multiple NEC Players of the Year. Under his leadership, Saint Francis achieved its first 20-win season in over two decades and produced standout players such as Josh Cohen, who ranked among the top 50 players nationally in 2023 by USBWA.
Helton previously served as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico University from 2009-2014 where he orchestrated four tournament runs, ranked sixth all-time in program wins, and recorded the Greyhounds’ first exhibition and regular-season victories over NCAA Division I opponents.
His extensive coaching resume also includes stops locally at the University of South Alabama. In addition to South Alabama, Helton has made stops at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, the University of Miami (Fla.), and the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown (Pa.) where he played key roles in conference championships and NCAA Tournament runs. Helton’s work has developed several standout players, including NEC, Southland, and conference tournament MVPs.
A native of Marion, Ohio, Helton is a dedicated Christian and family man. He and his wife, Elly, have two children, Will and Grace.
